In the SE Region agreements in spectora there is a ‘Required Customer Initials’ variable that is currently in use.
Users want a way to require the person signing the agreement to type their initials, in addition to the main signature. That would let brands require clients to explicitly acknowledge they are opting in or out of particular conditions—for example add-ons, disclosures, or consent—rather than relying only on a single overall signature. Staff and managers want clearer proof that the signer saw and agreed to those specific items.
Agreed Solution: Implement as a block (not an inline variable): a draggable “initials” block. Signing is blocked until something is entered in that block (“Initials required above” or similar). No actual initials stored in the block—it’s a gate to unlock the main signature. Blocks can be conditional (e.g. “no radon” block only when radon not on job). Spectora’s current approach is hacky; blocking the sign button is the clean approach.
Why it matters: Requiring initials for key conditions strengthens consent and reduces ambiguity when clients later question what they agreed to.
